Why you should buy LOCAL

Hi again from the Blackmotorway blog post. The weather is great out-will we pay for it? Maybe this is the winter that goes to spring early. I sure hope so ( my golf clubs are begging for fresh air). The one thing we do know is that you cannot control the weather. As we were talking today at Black Motor Co., the subject came up of buying local. So I decided to write about the benefits of buying a vehicle locally.
The options abound when you  are deciding where to buy your next vehicle. You have the local car delearship, the large dealer in the big city, internet options, and private sellers. First, let us look at the local economy. Buying local keeps those dollars in the local area. The dealership spends dollars in the community and there employees spend dollars on gas, food, rent, ect. Dollars spent in a community are respent many times over. The ad campaign BUY LOCAL is even needed more today than ever. Smaller communities need the local business to stay open. Competition is tremendous today, so buying local not only helps your neighbor but it also helps you.
Second, what happens when you have a problem with your vehicle? Repairs are never something that you think about when you buy a vehicle, but they should have some influence on your purchase. Black Motor Co. does complete top notch service on every vehicle that comes to our shop, but a vehicle that is purchased from us has been inspected by our certified technicians so we know the in's and out's of the vehicle. We will also work with you on keeping your maintenence cost manageable if the vehicle is purchased from us. Warranty work is also something to consider. Get the work done locally instead of having to drive to get it done. This can cost you valuable time and expensive gas money driving to get work done instead of having it done locally.
Next, are you really getting the best deal by not buying local? I know of many friends who have bought a vehicle on the internet or at an "out of town dealer" and thought they got the "GREAT DEAL". Turns out that the so called "GREAT DEAL" was not so great after all. We could have matched or even beat their deal, but were passed over as " too small to compete". As a smaller dealership, we have less overhead so we can compete on the same playing field with the " BIG BOYS". You get no hard sell or pushy salesperson here at Black Motor Co., all we ask for is first chance to make you a deal on your next vehicle. We are here locally, give us a shot, all we ask.
Why travel? We do at Black Motor Co. what the larger dealers do and you do not have to travel to get it done. Don't see what you are looking for on our lot, STOP-we can locate your next vehicle. We have many avenues to use in getting you the vehicle you desire, just stop and ask. Don't travel to get that maintenence or warranty work done. Black Motor Co. has the service department staffed with certified techs to fix your vehicle right. Plus, those dollars stay in the community also. DOLLARS SPENT LOCALLY STAY LOCALLY!!!
If you purchase your next vehicle from Black Motor Co. you will not only be getting a good value on a vehicle, you will be helping the community as well. If you are thinking of buying a vehicle why purchase somewhere else when what you need and want is already located in your local community.
Super Bowl Sunday in one week. With 2 old guard teams in the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, tradition will abound. You always hope for a good game and enjoy the commercials. The Blackmotorway blogger predicts Steelers 27 Packers 21. Enjoy!!

Should I buy a NEW or USED Vehicle?

Hi again and welcome back to the Blackmotorway Blog. As I was staring out on the lot and looking at the inventory here at Black Motor Co., I got to thinking about the options of buying a vehicle. So I thought I would write about the benefits of buying a new vehicles or a pre-owned vehicle. So many options abound in today's vehicle market so let's look at the benefits of both new and pre-owned.
First, let's look at the benefits to buying a new vehicle. 1) FREEDOM OF CHOICE -  When you buy a new car or truck, you have the opportunity to consider a wide variety of vehicles in your size and price class. You can test-drive all of them. You can select your favorite color. You can equip the new one with whatever features you need or want. You can choose between leather and cloth upholstery. You can upgrade the audio system. You can add high-tech gizmos such as a communication, entertainment or navigation system.
2) BETTER FINANCE RATES - While a used car may cost less than a new one, the interest rate you pay could be higher. To begin with, you wouldn't get limited, low-interest financing or a cash rebate that usually is offered as an incentive to new-car buyers. Interest rates are generally higher on used vehicles as opposed to new, so consider your options on interest rates when buying. 3) AVAILABLE FEATURES - An advantage of buying new is that you get the latest in features. Every model year, manufacturers add new technologies and features to vehicles either as standard or optional equipment as a way to lure buyers to new cars from their current ones. Those technologies may be important safety breakthroughs, like airbags and antilock brakes were some years ago, or they may just be convenience gadgets — things that make life in your vehicle more enjoyable — such as DVD entertainment systems or navigation guides. The only way to get the most advanced technology and the latest convenience features is with a new vehicle. Automotive electronics are evolving so rapidly that unless you buy a new car, your vehicle's technology is already outdated.
Now let's shift over to the benefits of buying a used vehicle. 1) PRICE - Buying a new car is definitely more expensive than buying a used one and the gap is getting wider. Affordability is still the main reason of buying pre-owned over new. Also consider that your payments may be lower and no money down may be required on pre-owned over new. 2) IMPROVING RELIABILITY OF PRE-OWNED VEHICLES - Vehicles today just last longer. Years ago a vehicle with 100,000 was considered to be used up. That is not the case today. Vehicles have a much longer life with miles to 200,000 and greater. Better technology, longer lasting engines, better engine oils, and better roads. 3) WIDE SELECTION - The used vehicle market has an expansive amount a choices and selections. Look at any used vehicle dealers lot today, you can see cars, vans, trucks, Suv's and both domestic and foreign vehicles. The sky is the limit in the used car market. And here at Black Motor Co. the slogan is: IF YOU DON'T SEE IT - ASK AND WE CAN GET IT FOR YOU. There are so many outlets for the pre-owned today, that we can get just about anything you are looking for.
4) CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS - Another trend that makes buying used a better option is the pre-owned certified programs. Benefits of certified pre-owned include: A) Usually only late-model, relatively low-mileage used cars and trucks with no history of major damage qualify for certification programs. B) Vehicles are put through a extensive inspection process to qualify. C) Vehicles are normally covered by a warranty that extends beyond the original factory warranty. The warranty often includes the same features as a new-vehicle warranty, such as roadside assistance. D) Vehicles with pre-owned certification may qualify for special financing. 5) LOWER INSURANCE COSTS - Your cost of insurance is going to be generally less for a used vehicle than for a new one. This is an item that is often overlooked when waying your options on a vehicle purchase. Also don't forget the difference in taxes and licensing of a new vehicle over a pre-owned vehicle
These are just some of the items to consider when deciding between new and pre-owned vehicles. Here at Black Motor Co., we want to make your vehicle purchase as enjoyable as we would want it to be if we were the ones doing the buying. Stop in and take a look at our inventory. We can help you with your next vehicle purchase. No hard sell - give us a try - we aim to please.
The winter sports season is in full bloom. Get out to cheer on your favorite team. Super Bowl in 2 weeks. Bring on the new commercials and hope for a good game.

Winter Driving Tips

Well we finally got hit with the snow and cold weather after some really nice weather before Christmas. So I thought I would write about some winter driving tips. First, never warm up a car in a enclosed area such as a garage. Cold weather can bring the fumes into the house so easy. Just avoid it-PLEASE. Next, have you tires inflated properly. Keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid gas line freeze up. Never use the cruise control on ice and slick roads. Always look and steer where you want to go and USE YOUR SEAT BELT EVERYTIME!!
Let's review some long distance driving tips. First, watch weather reports to get the latest updates for your trip-if bad weather is called for think about delaying the trip. If you must travel, let someone know your route, destination, and estimated arrival time. Next, pack a survival kit-cell phone, blanket, shovel, food, gloves, hats, water, and medications. If stranded in the snow stay with the wehicle-it is your shelter. Tie a bright colored piece of cloth on the antenna or in the window. Keep the exhaust clear of ice and snow. Run the engine just long enough to take the chill off and to conserve gasoline. Last but not least, use anything in the vehicle to insulate your body-newspapers, clothing, maps, floor mats-everything can help.
If you must drive in the snow, remember these tips. First, SLOW DOWN-it takes much longer to stop on ice and snow. Next, don't drive if you don't need to. Accelerate and decelerate slowly, know your brakes, and if possible don't stop-it is easier to start from a slow or rolling motion.
The winter driving in Nebraska is always a challenge. It is always nice to review winter driving tips even though we do it every year. Safety should be your first concern. We at Black Motor Co. want to stress safe winter driving for everyone. Just a reminder- make sure your vehicle is in top driving condition for the harse winter driving here in the Midwest. Let us check your vehicle to make sure it is in tip top shape.

                                                 Until next time-DRIVE SAFELY

I have to eat crow for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. They played a very uninspired game and should be embrassed. Let's hope the Big 10 will get them fired up.
